63-year-old man kills his neighbour before turning gun on himself over long-standing feud


Police in New Jersey, were called to a home after shots were fired during an argument.

Officers responded to a condominium building at 5 Linden Street near Passaic Street, in Hackensack.

Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said at a press conference that officers found a 66-year-old African-American man, dead near the elevator in the lobby of his building.

The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers began searching for the shooter when they learned that he ran towards the back of the building. The officers went to the parking lot.

There they found the shooter, a 63-year-old man, in his car. A gun was recovered from the scene.

He suffered one gunshot wound to the head. Grewal said that his wound appears to be self-inflicted. The names were not released so their families can be notified.

The case is being treated as a murder-suicide. Grewal said that there had been a long-standing dispute between the two men, who are residents of the building.
